A little bit about me…

I’m not a psychologist or a doctor or someone who has triumphed over addiction. I’m a mother, a voracious researcher, workshop-taker, podcast listener, networker, parent coach and support group facilitator. Through necessity and ferocity, I learned more than I could have imagined since my son began his struggle with addiction—then found his way to recovery. I’m also a believer in the profound power of community, so I’m not going to keep all that hard-earned wisdom to myself.

…and this newsletter

Every other Monday, I will share important, useful insights and information for families grappling with addiction and recovery as well as other related issues including ADHD, anxiety and mental health. Many of the topics I cover are relevant to other relationships, parenting in general, and family life. Each newsletter includes related resources. Family members can actually have a positive impact on their loved ones’ recovery, and this newsletter offers up the most impactful tools, strategies, and insights.

Free versus paid subscriptions

Free subscribers will receive occasional newsletters highlighting valuable resources, as well as previews of more in-depth posts going to paid subscribers. The archive is not accessible to free subscribers.

Paid subscribers will hear from me twice each month with deeper-dive articles as well as shorter notes between the longer pieces. You will also be able to post comments, access the archive, and email me directly should the mood strike.

If you need every bit of information you can get your hands on and are just tapped out, please let me know and I’ll be happy to comp you.

If you’re able to afford a subscription, I hope you’ll find it in your heart to value thoughtful writing, and the time, effort, and vulnerability that go into creating it.

Connection is the opposite of addiction.

If there is an upside to parenting a young adult who misuses substance, it is the beautiful, fierce, supportive, generous, relentlessly honest, open parents I’ve met along the way. Be part of a community of parents who relate to everything you’re going through, learn, explore, connect.
